1985 -- AGS Archives

  On September 2, 1985, a joint U.S.-French expedition team announced that it had located the wreckage of the Titanic about 560 miles off Newfoundland, 73 years after the British luxury liner sank.
  The first discovery of a fullerene (C60, a spherical cluster of carbon atoms) was published in the journal Nature on November 14, 1985.
