AGS BOWMAN EXPEDITION TO COLOMBIA
COMUNA 13 - MEDELLIN

David J. Keeling
Project Director and AGS Councilor

The primary objective of the Medellín project is to understand the impacts of urban and rural violence on the spatial development of communities. Specifically, the AGS Bowman Expedition to Colombia is analyzing the geography and history of Comuna 13 in Medellín, with the goal of developing a virtual Atlas of Comuna 13 that will present the story of the birth, growth, social collapse, and rebirth of this neighborhood of Medellín. The Atlas will be online, open sourced, and available to scholars, students, and members of the public for comments and contributions. It will address the geography, history, planning, and security of the various barrios that comprise Comuna 13.
